Pauline, SC- John R. Laster, 78, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 2, 1936, John was a son of the late James Hiram and Octavia Price Laster. He was retired from MEMC and was Past Master of Calhoun 81 AFM Lodge in Pauline, SC. John flew homing pigeons with SCO Pigeon Club for 30 years and was given an honorary membership after he became ill. He also kept honey bees for several years. John loved riding his motorcycle and traveled many thousands of miles.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Johnson Laster; one daughter, Deborah Burke; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one sister, Mildred Morgan.
John was predeceased by a son, Philip Ray Laster; three brothers, James, Theron Dee, and Earl Laster; and one sister, Virginia Wykell.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Journey Hospice who gave John great care and comfort, and to the friends and neighbors who have helped during this time.
The family will be at the home.
Services will be held at a later date.
