Howard Grover Coman

Woodruff, SC- Howard Grover Coman, 91, husband of the late Ethel “Bonnie” Bahnmuller Coman, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Born January 28, 1925 in Asheville, NC, Howard was a son of the late Grover Lonus and Floy Wilson Coman. He honorably served his country in the US Navy on the USS Hornet as part of the Pacific Fleet during WWII. Howard was a graduate of The University of South Carolina, receiving a degree in engineering. For many years, as an engineer, he was employed with Winchester, A division of Olin Corporation, Baxter Travenol Laboratories, Inc., and Lockwood Greene Engineers, Inc. Howard is survived by his son, Jeffrey Arthur Coman; his daughter, Fabiane Coman Bartelt; son in-law, Karl Bartelt; daughters in-law, Rhonda Sue Coman and Andrea Bartelt; grandchildren, Jeremy Bartelt, Taran James Coman, and Drew William Coman; great grandchildren, Jayden, Grayson, and Adelyn Bartelt; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Janes Dicus, Susan Dicus Walters, James Herbert Coman, Jr., Gerald Rhodes Coman, Anne Coman O’Connor, Brion Bahnmuller, and Brant Bahnmuller. In addition to his wife, Howard was predeceased by a son, Howard William Coman; brothers, William Reuben Coman and James Herbert Coman, Sr.; sister, Selma Coman Dicus; and nephew, William Coman Dicus. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 9th, 10:00-11:00AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow in the sanctuary at 11AM, officiated by Reverend John Warren. Burial will be held in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
