Annie McCraw Waddell Smith

Annie McCraw Waddell Smith, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Born on November 7, 1938, in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Coyle L. and Nettie Jolly McCraw. Annie was a graduate of Gaffney High School and grew up working in the peach orchards for the Clary family. After high school, she moved to Spartanburg, where she raised her family. She worked at J.M. Fields and later retired from Kmart after 24 years of service. She was a member of River Hills Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, David Waddell (Lisa) of Pauline, SC, Keith Waddell (Angela) of Roebuck, SC, and Anita W. Kelly (Joseph) of Atoka, TN; five grandchildren, Brandon Orr (Tabatha) of Duncan, SC, Matthew Kelly (Brandi) of Atoka, TN, Jacob Waddell (Bailey) of Enoree, SC, Katelyn Griswold (Devin) of Spartanburg, SC, and Andrew Kelly of Atoka, TN; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Jerry McCraw (Cindy); and her sister, Judy M. Davis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Troy Waddell; Vernon Smith; her daughter, Debra K. Waddell; and her sister, Alma Jean Painter. 

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Kent Smith.
