Betty Margaret Thames McCraw, 92, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025. She was born June 23, 1933 in Sumter, SC to the late Thomas David and Frances Louise Thames and was the widow of Teddie Neil McCraw, Sr.
After graduating from St. Stephens High School, Betty went on to become a financial advisor. She took an early retirement after 30 years in banking to care for her grandchildren full-time. Betty was a devout Christian and member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was heavily involved and served her church family in many ways, including as Treasurer.
Betty was truly a homemaker. She led her family through everything with loving care and the grace of a genuine southern woman. The kitchen was where her love flourished; Betty was well-known for her cooking and especially her cream cheese pound cake. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and dedicated grandmother and her family will miss her deeply.
She is survived by her children, Teddie McCraw and Robin Carol McCraw Smith (John); and granddaughters, Meghan Avalon McCraw Scoggins (Jake) and Mollie Margaret McCraw O’Keefe (Brandon). Along with her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her grandson, Ross Timothy Smith, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Graveside services will be 2:00PM on Tuesday, December 8, 2025 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
