Carl Daniel Ballard

February 9, 1978 — June 25, 2025

Moore, SC

Carl Daniel Ballard, lovingly known as Danny, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. A devoted father, beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, Danny’s presence was a light in many lives—and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Danny attended Dorman High School, where his big heart and even bigger personality quickly made him a friend to just about everyone. He loved people—truly loved them. He had a special way of connecting, of making others feel like they mattered. Even as a teenager, Danny stood out for his creativity and kindness. He had a passion for drawing, crafting, and building things with his hands. A true jack-of-all-trades, Danny could fix almost anything and was always learning how to do more. He was known for his strong work ethic even when he was young, and he poured his energy into everything he did—whether it was school, friendships, or time spent with his children.

Danny also loved being outdoors, especially when he could cast a line. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes—a way to clear his mind, slow down, and find peace. Whether he caught anything or not, just being near the water brought him joy.

For 25 years, Danny was a Certified Pedorthist at Upstate Pedorthic Services where he worked alongside his father, Dan Ballard, and brother, Eric Ballard. He received his Pedorthic certification at St. Petersburg College. Most recently, Danny was employed as a Lead Maintenance Technician at Tietex, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and the way he always kept things running—not just machines, but morale too. Whether fixing equipment or comforting a patient, Danny did it with care, focus, and his ever-present sense of humor.

Danny was more than his addiction. He had an effortless charm and a natural warmth. He could walk into a room of strangers and walk out with a room full of friends. He was a chameleon—able to blend into any crowd, connect with anyone, and make them feel like they belonged. He was quick to laugh, quick to help, and quick to love. He was creative, funny, loyal, and sometimes wild in the best possible way. Danny didn’t just color outside the lines—he made new ones. He was a bright light, even when his own path was heavy.

He was also a man of deep reflection and growth. Though his path included struggles, he never let that define him—instead, he used his experiences to lift others up. Through his journey with GoForth Recovery, Faith Home, and ultimately Overcomers—the program that saved his life—Danny not only found healing but became a source of it for others. He gave back generously, mentoring people who were walking the same roads he had. He offered encouragement when it was needed most and never hesitated to show up for someone else. He made a real and lasting impact on countless lives through his honesty, empathy, and service. He had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and accepted.

Danny is survived by his three beloved children, who were the center of his universe: Cassie Ballard (27), Carley Ballard (24), Beth Day (23), and Ayden Ballard (10). He also leaves behind his loving parents, Dan and Cathy Ballard, his brother and lifelong friend Eric Ballard, and a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his memory with them always.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Frances Ballard, Carl and Doris Hughey, and his aunt, Carol Ann Rosenberg.

To remember Danny only through the lens of addiction is to miss the depth of who he truly was. His life cannot be defined by struggle—it must be remembered for the love, laughter, and light he gave so freely. We are devastated by the future we won’t get to share with him.

If love alone could have saved him, he would still be here today. We are comforted knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father, free from pain and wrapped in peace.

Danny was deeply and truly loved—and he always will be.

Receiving of friends will start at 1:00 PM, following a memorial service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 2, at 2:00 PM, both will be held at the same place, Dunbar Funeral Home in Roebuck, SC.
