It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Carolyn Walls Gallman, who departed this life on December 18, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Born on January 8, 1946, Carolyn lived for 79 remarkable years, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Jesse Walls and Mary Lois Culbreth, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her beloved brothers, Charles and Donnie Walls, and her dear sister, Helen Dye. Despite the grief of losing loved ones, Carolyn remained a beacon of strength and resilience throughout her life.
Her legacy continues through her loving family, including her son, Barry Williams, and daughter-in-law, Donna, her daughters, Kim Williams and Monica Davis, and son-in-law, Lamar. Carolyn was a proud grandmother to Ashley Scott, Taylor Revan, Austin Durham, and Kennedy Davis, and was blessed with three great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
As a devoted believer of the Baptist faith, Carolyn found comfort in her beliefs and shared her love and kindness with everyone she encountered. She was a people person, never one to meet a stranger, and her charisma drew people to her effortlessly. Known for being bold in her opinions, she had a distinctive ability to express her thoughts with grace and humor. Her laughter and contagious spirit made every gathering brighter, and she was adored for her classy sense of style, always dressing to impress and donning her signature earrings.
Carolyn’s career as a waitress at the Hyatt Regency was a testament to her loving and selfless nature. She poured her heart into her work, serving others with a smile that could light up a room. She embraced the simple pleasures of life, teaching her family and friends the importance of gratitude and the beauty of everyday moments.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mary Carolyn Walls Gallman, honoring her generous spirit to Spartanburg Humane Society.
A Memorial Service will be held at The JM Dunbar Funeral Home on December 26th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, where family and close friends will gather to celebrate Carolyn’s remarkable life and the legacy of love she leaves behind. A visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 pm.
Mary Carolyn Walls Gallman will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her humor, loyalty, and selflessness will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever inspire us to cherish the simple joys of life and to love fiercely. Rest in peace, Carolyn. Your life was a blessing, and your memory a treasure.
