Charles D. Hudson

Charles D. Hudson of Moore, SC passed away on April 24, 2026 at the age of 87. He was born in Pickens, SC to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Hudson.

Charles served in the United States Army and the SC National Guard. He was a retired SC State Trooper. After his retirement from law enforcement, he enjoyed a much-loved second career in aviation. He provided pilot services to several local businesses. He was also a flight instructor for many of Spartanburg’s pilots.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley H. Hudson; children, Shannon Hudson-Wiley of Moore, SC and Jason D. Hudson of Duncan, SC; and grandsons, Jackson S. Wiley of Huntsville, AL and Nolan H. Wiley of Bluffton, SC.

Charles was predeceased by his siblings, Cecile Mote, Jack Hudson, and Walter Hudson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S. Church St, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
