Craig Edward Caldwell, 59, of Moore, SC passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. He was born in Spartanburg, SC on November 20, 1966, to the late James Edward and Patsy Wood Caldwell.
A proud graduate of Dorman High School class of 1985, Craig was a member of the rifle color guard team all four years. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served for over nine years as Specialist Four. He was stationed in West Germany, patrolling the border before the wall came down. Craig was a member of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and 509th Infantry Regiment JRTC at Little Rock Air Force Base. He worked as a machinist with HUBTEX after returning home.
Craig was very committed to the betterment of his community. He was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations, including Uplift Outreach and Free Mom Hugs. Craig was a member of Inman First Baptist Church. He also enjoyed Civil War reenactments and visiting National Parks. Craig will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and beloved dog, Bella.
He is survived by his wife, Sonya S. Caldwell; brother Scott Caldwell (Mary); niece and nephew, Kathryn Ann Caldwell and James Douglas Caldwell; aunts, Diane Sanders, Micky Caldwell, and Judy Wood; and friend, Becki Roberts and family. Craig also leaves behind his many brothers in arms.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Joey Burnett.
