Cynthia Ocilka

Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Ocilka, 72, of Boiling Springs, SC passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Smith, her father, William Smith, and sister, Cheryl Smith.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, George Thomas Ocilka; sons, George J. and Richard Ocilka; daughter, Jacqueline Sanders (Rich); and two grand-daughters, Nicole and Kaitlyn Sanders.

She was a member of the Class of 1972 at Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Cindy was the first Woman Draftsperson hired by Mesta Machine Works of Homestead, PA in 1974. She then worked for several land development companies in Northern Virigina.

Cindy was a devoted Catholic mother and part of a founding family of Holy Trinity Parish. For over a decade, she cared for her grandchildren while taking on the responsibility of the votive candles at the Parish.

Cindy then played a good part of her son George J's recovery from a fatal car accident and severe brain injury 30 years ago.

Services will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg, SC and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville, VA with interment to follow in the columbarium of the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia in the near future.
