Doris Outen Alexander

Spartanburg, SC - Doris Outen Alexander, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Marion, VA on June 4, 1928 and raised in Matthews, NC, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Franklin and Louise Grist Outen. Ms. Alexander was retired from American Greetings (where she was affectionately known as the “card lady”), a stay-at-home mom, and a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg. She is survived by two sons, William Lee Alexander, Jr. and his wife, Karen, and Richard L. Alexander and his wife, April, both of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter, Lynda J. Alexander of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Rufus F. Outen, Jr (Debbie).; two sisters, Peggy O. Harkey (Don) and Eleanor O. Locke (Bill); four grandchildren, Austin (Rita), Myles (Ansley), Matt (Lisa), and Taylor Alexander: and four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Banks, J.D., and Addilyn Alexander. Our mother was beautiful both inside and out. Her amazing electric blue eyes would capture your attention, immediately, upon first meeting her. She was an awesome cook and always had a delicious meal on the table, ready for us to enjoy. We can still smell her mouth-watering “Stickies”, with the aroma wafting from her old 1950’s oven. She loved music, reading, and sunbathing…preferably at the IOP. Her flowers were tended to with tender loving hands and they were the envy of all passersby. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and they in turn loved and respected her. She has truly lived her life with amazing grace. Her time on this earth has now ended and we will sorely miss her; but eternity awaits her in her new heavenly home and we whole heartily rejoice with her. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 The services will be private and held at a later date.
