Douglas Lamar Richardson

Douglas Lamar Richardson was born on October 7, 1951, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and raised primarily in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a proud Army veteran who served from 1974 until his honorable discharge in 1995, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was also a devoted father, a loving husband, and a man who never met a stranger.

Known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, he brought laughter wherever he went. His smile, his stories, and his ability to make others laugh will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He took great pride in his appearance and was rarely seen without a sharp suit, a stylish tie, and polished shoes. He believed in presenting himself with confidence and dignity, often reminding those he loved to always dress their best.

Though Alzheimer's disease challenged his memory, it never diminished the impact he made on the lives of others. His legacy of laughter, service, style, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Douglas leaves behind his devoted wife, Salena; his children, Khalid, Kara, Aasha, Twana, and LaShawn; his brothers, Jeffery, Darrell, Keith, Hassan, and Ramon; his sisters, Judy and Dianne; his grandchildren, Saharri, Nasir, Naseem, and Noraya; his aunt, Lois Pharr; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Juan Jeru and Dennis; his mother, Louise Richardson; his father, Brooks Davenport; his nephews, Durell and Damond; and many close friends.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:45 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Francis Funeral Home, 5201 Whitby Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will immediately follow in Fernwood Cemetery, 6501 E. Baltimore Ave, Lansdowne, PA 19050.
