Frances Lillian Muse Moses, 98, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025. She was born in Vinton, VA to the late Herbert S. and Martha Maria Wood Muse.
Frances grew up moving among several communities across the South, including cities in Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina. She was a proud graduate of Calhoun-Clemson High School. After completing her education, Frances spent most of her adult life in Greensboro, NC. She worked as a bookkeeper for Burlington Industries and was a long-time member of Muir’s Chapel Methodist Church.
At home, Frances was a true homemaker in every sense. She was a seamstress, home cook, and a passionate gardener. Her houseplants were a source of much enjoyment, as were her many outdoor flowers and shrubs.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Moses Iamarino (John P.), grandson, Philip John Moses Iamarino, and several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Izzy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, John M. Moses, and siblings, Vernon R. Muse (Edith), Mary Alice Muse Ridout (James), and Robert H. Muse (Pat).
The family would like to say a special thank you to Frances’ caregivers for blessing her last months with their loving care.
A private graveside service will be held in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, VA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society.
