Francis M. Johnson, of Pauline, SC passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born in Walnut Grove, SC on July 20, 1939 to the late Jesse M. and Kathrine H. Johnson.
Francis graduated from Roebuck High School (Class of 1958). His passion was anything mechanical; Francis loved antique cars, tractors, and retired after 40 years as Quality Control Manager with Arrow Automotive Industries. Outside of work, he could often be found hunting yard sales, estate sales, and pawn shops for his next great find.
Always a man of faith, Francis was a member of Church at the Mill. He formerly served as Deacon with Philadelphia Baptist Church. Francis was a giver at heart. He took care of everyone around him, especially the children. He truly loved spending time with his family and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ella Jane Carter Johnson; children, William “Bill” Johnson of Greenville, SC, Gregg Carter Johnson (Cheryl) of Kings Mountain, NC, Reggie Alan Johnson (Leslie) of Moore, SC, and April Johnson Smith (Mark) of Thomasville, NC; and grandchildren, William “Chris” Johnson (Kara), Lauren B. Thompson (Will), Joshua R. Johnson (Arianna), Sarah J. Flowers (Johnathan), Heather E. Johnson, Mikayla J. Maddox (Will), Jesse M. Johnson, Mary-Carter Johnson, Markus D. Smith, Mitchell C. Smith, Dawson B. Smith, and Preston W. Smith. Francis also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Francis was predeceased by his brothers, John B. Johnson, Travis M. Johnson, and Harold S. Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Susan Whiteside Johnson.
Visitation will be 3:00-3:45pm on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Church at The Mill, 4455 Anderson Mill Rd, Moore, SC 29369. Funeral services will follow at 4:00pm, conducted by Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton.
Burial will be 10:00am on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
