Geraldine “Gerry” Pool Brock of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born February 3, 1939 in LaGrange, GA to the late Pauline Dughi and Paul Jerman Pool.
Gerry was a graduate of Spartan High School. She spent most of her years as a homemaker, caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook and often carried cakes to friends and fellow church members who were sick. A charter member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, now Church at the Mill, Gerry was a co-leader of Bereavement Meals for nine years.
She was an avid reader, especially of biographies of US Presidents, and had a voracious interest in history. Gerry was spontaneous and fun-loving, enjoying camping and playing card games. She was a devoted supporter of her children and grandchildren, attending sports events and other special activities. A true Clemson Tiger, she enjoyed tailgating and cheering and/or correcting plays performed by her favorite sports team.
Gerry is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold Gene Brock; children, Douglas W. Brock (Lisa) of Spartanburg, SC and Paula E. Barnes (Michael) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Justin M. Barnes (Catherine), Morgan E. Crumpler (Hampton), Lainey M. Donnan (Trey), and Avery D. Brock (Marina); great-grandchildren, Brock H. Donnan, E. Casper Brock, and one on the way; brother, Samuel W. Pool of Pauline, SC; and several nieces and a nephew.
Visitation will be 10:00-10:45am on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Church at The Mill Chapel, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. D. J. Horton and Rev. Grover Timms.
In honor of Gerry, memorial contributions may be made to The H.G. Brock Scholarship Fund #02062 (in Memory of Gerry Brock), care of Spartanburg County Foundation, 424 E. Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. This scholarship fund is for the High School seniors of the Church at The Mill.
