Hazel Page Padgett
Spartanburg, S.C. Hazel Page Padgett, 97, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2022, at Wesley Court Assisted Living Community Center. Born on November 17, 1924, in Woodruff S. C., she was the daughter of the late Landrum William and Callie Foster Page. She was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 62 years, James C. Padgett, Jr.
Mrs. Padgett was a graduate of Woodruff High School and Cecil’s Business College. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Spartanburg, and a former member of the Couples Sunday School Class. She loved her job at Camp Mary Elizabeth and retired from the Piedmont Area Girl Scout Council. Hobbies included gardening, arts and crafts, and traveling.
“Mimi,” as she was known by her grandsons, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She loved her friends and neighbors, and it was a joy for her to stay in touch through visits, letters, and phone calls. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.
Survived by her daughter, Susan Padgett Martin and husband Mike Martin of Rutherfordton, N.C., grandson, Michael Padgett Martin and wife Whitney L. Martin of Morganton, N.C., son-in-law, Sam Oates and grandsons, Jamie and John Oates of Greenville, SC., and one sister, Joyce Page Crowe of Woodruff. Also preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Padgett Oates, her sisters, Blanch Page Place and Irene Page Brady, and her brother, Wilton Page.
A memorial service and celebration of a life well lived will be March 1, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Spartanburg First Baptist Church in the Davis Chapel.
The family would like to thank Mom’s special friend and caregiver, Eloise Wise, the staff and care givers of Wesley Court and Providence Care Hospice who provided outstanding care and family support.
