Henry Donald Hembree

December 10, 1926 — January 21, 2024

Henry Donald Hembree, 97, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Born in Spartanburg South Carolina in 1926 to Claude and Lois Hembree, he was the oldest of six children. He attended Roebuck High School before joining the United States Army where he was a paratrooper in Japan during World War II. Donald is survived by his loving wife Betty Lee Hembree, to whom he was happily married to for 75 years, and his three children— daughter Susan Spake, son Donnie Hembree (Patty), and daughter Christy Jarrett (Johnny). Also surviving are his four grandchildren Randy Spake (Dawn), Leslie Grigg (Anthony), Nick Hembree (Cindy), Catlyn Dearybury (Blake), and three great grandchildren Emily Spake, Gracie, and Hannah Hembree. Also surviving are his two brothers, Mack and Jerry Hembree. He is predeceased by parents, Claude and Lois Hembree, sister Vivian Floyd, two brothers Joe and Earl Hembree, and son in law Robert Spake. Visitation will be Thursday, January 25 2024 from 12:30-1:30 pm with funeral service and graveside burial immediately following at 2:00 pm with military honors. Both visitation and funeral service will be conducted at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Moore, SC by Reverend Jim Oliver and Pastor Kiah Graves of Philadelphia Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to make donations to Bethlehem Baptist Church, PO BOX 229 Roebuck SC 29376.
