Howard Lewis Morgan, 94, of Spartanburg, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born on July 5, 1931 to Bulah Morgan, Howard was married to his wife, Carolyn Morgan for 55 wonderful years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and arguing with his sister about who could catch the biggest fish. Howard was of the Baptist faith and attended United Baptist Church. He proudly served his country with the United States Army in the Korean War.
Along with his wife, Howard is survived by a son, Lewis Morgan (Terry); three grandchildren, Robbie Morgan, Lindsey McDonald (Grady), and Christopher Girardeau; and four great-grandchildren, Payton Carter, Skarlett Carter, Cheyenne Carter, and Arthur Girardeau. He was predeceased by a son, Randy Girardeau; his brothers, Perry, Tom, Ray, and Ed Morgan; and his sister, Lena Umberger.
Visitation will be 12:00-12:45 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Robert Emory and Rev. Christopher Girardeau. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens.
