Jackie Trail McAbee, 89, of Roebuck, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.
Born to Jesse and Naomi Trail, Jackie was one of seven children and grew up surrounded by the love and lively spirit of a large family. She graduated from Roebuck High School in 1954 and carried with her throughout life the values of hard work, curiosity, and devotion to family that shaped her early years.
Jackie retired from Springs Industries after many years of dedicated service. She was a woman of remarkable intelligence and determination—well-read, well-traveled across the United States, and endlessly curious about the world around her. Her greatest passion was genealogy. Through tireless research and dedication, she authored books chronicling family histories and generously helped countless individuals—both locally and internationally—discover their roots. Her work connected families across generations and continents, leaving a legacy that will endure for years to come.
While her accomplishments were many, Jackie’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured time spent together, sharing stories and laughter with those she loved most. Vegetable gardening was one of her favorite pastimes and brought her much happiness throughout the years.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Jackie is survived by her loving daughter, Tami McAbee Wilson; her granddaughters, Ashley Lavender and Jessica Marchant; her grandson, Christopher Brymer; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Naomi Trail; her son, John Michael McAbee; her daughter, Debra Ann McAbee; and her granddaughter, Heather Renee Puckett.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, with visitation following the service.
Jackie will be remembered as a loyal and treasured friend to many, both in her local community and around the world. Her kindness, wisdom, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the rich legacy of love, knowledge, and connection she leaves behind. And as Jackie would so sweetly say, “Ta Ta for now.”
