James Wilford McAbee

Boiling Springs – James Wilford McAbee passed away on October 24, 2022.

He was born on September 21, 1932 to Ila and GT McAbee in Spartanburg, SC.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Vivian, of Boiling Springs, SC and their four children, Charmaine Knapp and her husband, Gary, of Dallas, TX, Vickie Daniels and her husband, Lee, of Greer, SC, Phillip McAbee and his wife, Linda, of Greenville, SC, and Melodie McAbee of Charlotte, NC. He was known as PaPa to his grandchildren, Allyson Stovall (Tim), Christy Alexander (Dustin), Jamie Hawthorne (Chad), Cassie Knapp (Nimit), Scott McAbee (Erin), Lawson McAbee (Brooke); and eleven great grandchildren.

Wilford retired after 32 years of employment with Duke Energy to enjoy traveling with his wife and his hobbies, which included 48 years of Barbershop Harmony Society and his love of golf.  He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg participating in the choir and Young at Heart.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 -1:45 PM on Friday, November 18, 2022 at The First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM in the Davis Chapel.
