Rick Tanenbaum

Jan Ricky “Rick” Tanenbaum, 72, husband of Carrie Jean Tanenbaum, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, Rick was the son of the late Joel and Rose Weiss Tanenbaum. He was a 1976 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and spent more than 40 years working alongside his family at Arrow Steel in Spartanburg before retiring in 2019.

Rick was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed carpentry and took great pride in building and fixing things with his own hands. In fact, he was in the process of building a boat in the weeks leading up to his passing. An old-school man at heart, Rick appreciated good music, believed in doing things himself, and had a wonderful sense of humor that he shared with those around him.

In addition to his wife, Carrie, Rick is survived by his children, Robby Tanenbaum of Spartanburg, SC, Ross Tanenbaum of Hawaii, Marc Vinesett (Anna) of Inman, SC, Sara Vinesett of Charleston, SC, and Ashley Vinesett of Raleigh, NC; and his sister-in-law, Linda Tanenbaum.

He was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter, Addison Rose Vinesett, and his brother, Saul Tanenbaum.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home.

A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
