Janice Scherrill Deal Sanders

Janice Scherrill Deal Sanders “Jan,” 79, passed away on June 24th, 2025, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Jan was born in Spartanburg, SC on September 23rd, 1945, to the late Henry and Margaret Foster Deal. She was a former member of Green Street Baptist Church and retired cosmetologist.

She is survived by a son, Marvin O Sanders, III “Mark,”; a daughter, Amy Sanders Fowler (Jerry); three grandsons, Matthew Fowler (Sarah), Mark Fowler and Grant Sanders; a great grandson Daniel Fowlers; her treasured sisters, Dottie Greene, Marie Gwinn, Rachel Thompson, Linda Hicks (Bo) and Robbie Bishop (Frank); several nieces and nephews and honorary sons, Ronnie and Chris Hall.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Oliver Sanders Jr “Toddie”; a son, Matt Sanders; a daughter, Terry Sanders; a brother, Richard “Dick” Deal and her childhood best friend, Betsy Hall.

She was a military wife and a fierce protector of her family. “Well done Mama”

Visitation will be held 10:00-10:45 AM on Friday, June 27, 2025, at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home & Crematory, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Damon Duncan. Interment will follow after at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
