Jennifer Lynn Kirkland

Jennifer Lynn Kirkland of Moore, SC passed away on May 21, 2026 at the age of 66. She was born on December 21, 1959 to the late Nancy Ruchala and Joseph F. Ruchala.

As the daughter of a naval aviator she spent most of her childhood moving from State to State. The majority of her childhood was in Escondido and Alameda, CA, with her family eventually settling in Boiling Springs, SC. Jennifer graduated from Boiling Springs High School. As an adult Jennifer settled in Moore, SC where she and her late husband, Craig, of 42 years, raised their family and lived out their lives.

Jennifer was known for her outgoing personality, kind heart, and ability to make friends wherever she went. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She found joy in gardening and especially loved flowers of all kinds.

Above all else, Jennifer cherished her family. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending ball games, cheering from the sidelines, and creating lasting memories together. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.

Jennifer is survived by her children, Matthew and Daena Kirkland, Michelle Garrett, and Stephen Kirkland; bonus children, Michael and Amy Garrett; grandchildren, Ryleigh, Cole, Delanie, and Levi Kirkland and Reagan, Harper, Paisley, and Hadley Garrett; siblings, Beth Kourelis, Joseph Ruchala III, and Michael Ruchala; and nieces and nephews, Cassie Mercer, Hannah Ruchala, Megan Perez, Jenna Ruchala, Joseph Ruchala IV, Miranda Patillo, Michael Ruchala II, David Ruchala, Chris Kirkland, Ashley Hall, Melissa Kirkland, and Haleigh Kirkland.

Along with her mother, she was predeceased by her best friend, love of her life, and husband, Craig Kirkland, and her beloved son, Bradley Kirkland.

Funeral services will be announced Tuesday, after the holiday weekend.
