Joe Dean Fowler

June 28, 1941 — January 25, 2024

Joe Dean Fowler, aged 82, beloved husband of Carolyn Finch Fowler, peacefully passed away on January 25th, 2024. Joe was born June 28th, 1941, to the late Joseph M. Fowler and Edith Hyder Fowler, and was raised in the Motlow Community of Campobello, where he learned the importance of family, and the value of hard work working at the family sawmill. These were principles he both carried, and that carried him, throughout his life. As a younger man he liked to ride dirt bikes and wrench on hot rods. All that changed when he started his family. His love of his family was his focus, and he drew immense pride in his daughter and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He began his career with Milliken, moving to Plastic Injectors as VP of Operations and then after his first retirement, to Betras Plastics. After his second retirement, he was a consultant in the plastics industry. Joe had a lifelong love of Toastmasters, belonging and leading District 58 for forty plus years, mentoring many young entrepreneurs and budding executives. He was active daily at Nautilus Fitness Center up until Parkinson’s disease caused him to step back to only two to three days a week. Joe believed that Jesus Christ was his Savior, and he was a loyal and faithful servant of Roebuck Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, a joyous choir member, the building committee and most recently, worship video camera operator. Joe also enjoyed attending ANYTHING involving his grandchildren, tinkering around the family farm and reading with history, especially WWII, being his favorite subject. In addition to his devoted wife Carolyn, Joe is survived by his daughter Kimberly Fowler Fly (Ashley) of Spartanburg, SC, and his grandchildren, John “Townes” Fly and Savannah Grace Fly. He is also survived by his siblings: Don Fowler (Elaine), Lynn Hall, Ginny McAninch, Kathy Eidson, and Ricky Nelson Fowler. He also leaves behind numerous beloved family members and dear friends. Joe was immensely loved and he is deeply missed. Joe is preceded in death by his siblings Thomas Edward “Pete” Fowler and Marvin Ray Fowler. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 at Roebuck Baptist Church in Roebuck, SC. Receiving of friends will be from 1 P.M. to 2:15 P.M., with a service to follow at 2:30 P.M. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Rosecrest Rehabilitation and Nursing for their care for Joe in his final weeks and a special thank you to caregivers Karana Dean and Kayla Emory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s honor to Roebuck Baptist Church https://roebuckbc.breezechms.com/give/online or The Michael J.
