Judy Cubitt Bowyer

Judy Cubitt Bowyer, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after battling lung cancer. She was born February 29, 1948 to the late Ralph Charles Cubitt and the late Virginia Luker Cubitt. Judy was a preschool teacher for 20 years, a Sunday School teacher, a Library Assistant in Spartanburg and Rock Hill, and a volunteer with Total Ministries of Spartanburg. She was a member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church for 64 years. Judy is survived by her sons, Greg Bowyer of Spartanburg, Stephen Bowyer (Julie) of Raleigh, NC, and Kevin Bowyer (Kelly) of Charlotte, NC; her daughter in-law, Kelly Bowyer of Boiling Springs; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and her sisters Barbara Massey of Taylors and Joyce Polson of Lyman. She is also survived by her beloved dachshunds Fritz and Rusty. Judy was predeceased by her husband, David Eugene Bowyer, Sr., and a son, David “Dave” Bowyer, Jr. Visitation will be 10-10:45 am on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Cedar Spring Baptist Church, 140 Cedar Springs Place, Spartanburg, SC 29302. A memorial service will be held at 11 am at the church, conducted by Dr. M. Todd Lowe, followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or Cedar Spring Baptist Church, 140 Cedar Springs Place, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
