Kacey Leigh Watson

February 25, 1975 — November 7, 2023

Kacey Leigh Watson, 48, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on November 7, 2023. Born February 25, 1975 in Spartanburg, she was the beloved daughter of Karen M. Martin and the late Ray A. Martin, and cherished wife of Jason Watson. Kacey was kind, loving, friendly to all, funny, witty, brilliant, beautiful, creative, and very unique. She was loved by many, but even more so, she loved them. Her love was unconditional; she would do so many small, sweet things for people. Kacey was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. She had many passions, including video games, baking, holidays, and music. She co-created and hosted a weekly Twitter hashtag game for nine years that trended globally. Her favorite video game was World of Warcraft. Kacey was a coffee fanatic, and she baked many delicious cookies, desserts, and more. She loved Halloween, but her favorite holiday was Christmas. She had so many Christmas tree ornaments that they couldn't even all fit on the tree. She was always discovering new songs that she loved and played over and over until she grew tired of them. She loved movies and TV shows and would rewatch her favorites over and over; she watched her favorites hundreds of times. Her tastes were constantly changing, and she was a young soul. Kacey also enjoyed traveling. Her favorite place to go was a small cabin on a mountain in North Carolina that she and Jason discovered last year. It was old and rustic, but the view was amazing and she always said it was "magical" or "like Heaven". She loved every little thing about it. The week before she died, she made one last trip there. Jason says, “It was our newfound place, and I am thankful that we got to go for one more wonderful visit.” Kacey loved Disneyworld, and even though she had not had a chance to go in many years, she would often talk fondly about past trips. She also enjoyed going to the beach, especially to eat seafood. Kacey is survived by multitudes who will miss her, including her mother, Karen; husband, Jason; aunts and uncles, Jim and Kay Medlock and Randy and Kathy Medlock; her cousins, Nicole Scott (Brian), Juli MacMillan (Grant), Betsy Pearson, and Todd Medlock; cousins she called her nieces and nephews, Aldon, Clay, Josie, Finlay, Lizzy, Henry, Polly, and Harrison; mother-in-law, Pat Watson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Watson; good friend and co-host of Friday Fondue, Everett Fox; and her beloved Kitten. She was predeceased by her father, Ray; grandmothers she called Monie Sybil and Monie Eula; great-grandparents, Ethel and Hutch Medlock and Romell and JP Norton; and nephew, Kye. Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00pm in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, 115 Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by Rev. Jeff Eubanks. In honor of Kacey’s lifelong love of all animals, including her cats and turtles she rescued out of the road, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
