Katherine Grace Clark

Spartanburg, SC

Katherine Grace Clark, 64, formerly of Charleston, died on June 17, 2025 in Spartanburg, SC after a brief illness. Katherine was born on December 20, 1960 in Charleston, SC to Clarence George Clark and Gertrude Duane Clark. She was a graduate of “old” Bishop England High School and the College of Charleston where she earned her B.A. degree in fine art. Expressing her creativity through painting on canvas as well as through interior decorating continued to be her lifelong avocation, although her professional path was as a Registered Nurse who dedicated most of her career to the field of psychiatry. Her personal interests included crafting, gardening, reading, walking on the beach, and a good conversation.

Katherine spent six years in California living in both San Francisco and San Diego and held a lasting affection for both the people and places there. Those years remained especially meaningful to her. She returned to Charleston in 1992 where she lived until moving to Spartanburg several years ago. There, she joined the Montessori Academy community as a teacher’s assistant where she loved and was loved by her co-workers and tiny students.

Katherine is survived by her two daughters, Eve Clark and Anna Dudek (David Bresnihan); her granddaughter, Mia Grace Bresnihan; her sister, Mary Clark Coy (Dan); her niece Erin Coy Levy (Ethan); her nephew Joel Coy; three great-nieces and a great-nephew; her former husband and friend, Fred Dudek, and his family. Katherine will also be missed by her faithful canine companion, Tilly.

The funeral Mass will be in Charleston at a later date, followed by the Rite of Christian Burial and inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Charleston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charleston Recovery Center or to the GoFundMe account established in her memory.
