Katie Steen Hall James

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Mrs. Katie Hall James, age 67. Mrs. James passed away April 5 while at MUSC Health in Florence.

Mrs. James was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late Jessie Steen and Ruth Watkins Steen. She was a beloved caregiver who will be remembered for her kind heart and generosity for all those she knew. She was a rock for many.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jason & Ashley Hall of Spartanburg,SC,; grandson,Jake Hall of Clemson, SC,; Sister Arlene Lupo of Florence, SC, and brother John Steen of Hartsville, SC. She is also survived by numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins, and close neighbors.

Special thanks to Pam and Tommy Cassidy, best friends and neighbors from Hartsville, SC who provided a tremendous amount of care and compassion especially during her 6 months battle with cancer. Also extend a special thanks to Jason’s In-Laws, Mike and Cathy Kirkland of Moore, SC for the close bond and generosity they have shared with her for the past 25 years.

She was the widow of the late James Matthew Hall and Charles James. She was also predeceased by sisters, Susan Willoughby and Judy Steen. Brothers, Albert Steen, William Steen, Richard Steen, and Derris Steen.

A memorial service will be held at 1538 Old Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369 on her birthday April 19th, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
