Laurie McCormick Copley, 63, of Spartanburg passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born July 20, 1960 in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Francis Miller and Esther Castro McCormick. She graduated from Spartanburg High School and pursued higher education at the University of South Carolina and Converse College. Throughout her life, Laurie was a dedicated wife, cherished mother, and beloved friend to all who knew her. Above all, Laurie was a devout follower of Christ, whose steadfast faith illuminated every aspect of her life. She found solace and purpose in her relationship with God, living each day with grace, humility, and unwavering trust in His plan.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Frank Nowell Copley; children, Laura Copley Allen (Michael), Virginia Copley Tate, and John Andrew Copley (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Eliza Noelle Allen, Jackson Potter Allen, Andrew Porter Allen, Avery Grace Allen, Gamble Brooks Tate, Walker Grant Tate, and Francis Sullivan Tate; and siblings, Francis Miller McCormick, Jr. and Cynthia McCormick Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, John Walker and Carolyn Lynn Copley; grandparents, Virginia Alice Miller, Benjamin Franklin McCormick, and Yisdora Arellano Castro; aunts, Josephine Castro Valencia, Barbara Wallace McCormick, and Graciella Castro; and uncle, Igancio “Nash” Castro (Bette).

Memorial services will be 3:00pm on Friday, April 26, 2024 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Steve Wise and Rev. Mike Smith. A reception will follow. 

Prior to her death, Laurie expressed her desire for attendees to wear bright colors to her service, not only in celebration of her life, but also in celebration of the goodness of Jesus Christ.
