Lois Conyers Skinner

Lois Conyers Skinner, 90, widow of Henry W. Skinner Sr., passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1936, in Florence County, South Carolina, to the late Ila Mae Louise Oliver Conyers and Willie Lawson Conyers.

Lois was a woman of deep faith who dedicated much of her life to serving others. She faithfully taught Sunday School at Westside Baptist Church for more than 20 years. Later, she became a small group leader at Church at the Mill, where she continued serving and encouraging others for as long as her health allowed. She also cherished her time with the Encouraging Women’s Group. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she remained a member of Church at the Mill.

Lois worked for Winn-Dixie and enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including ceramics, porcelain dolls, and sewing. She also had a special heart for children and opened her home and heart to foster many children over the years. Among those who held a particularly special place in her heart were Ricky Blaine and Johnny Solesbee.

Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children, Annette Vinson, Henry W. Skinner Jr. (Charlene), Gerald Dwayne Skinner, Henry Trey Skinner, and Robert N. Skinner; her sisters, Lorine Smith, Ann Wilkes, Nancy Parnell, and Glenda Epps; her grandchildren, Michael D. Vinson (Erin), Chris Skinner (Hannah), Ayden Skinner, and Logan Skinner; and her great-grandchildren, Lydia Vinson, Bennett Vinson, Noa Skinner, Esra Skinner, and Joshiah Skinner.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by; four brothers; and her granddaughter, Rachel S. Thompson.

Lois leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, compassion, and service. Her gentle spirit and caring heart touched the lives of her family, the children she fostered, and countless others throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2026 at 2pm in the chapel of Church at The Mill. Funeral services will follow at 3pm, conducted by Asheton Amerson and Danny Garrett. Burial will immediately follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
