Spartanburg, SC

Lucile Reida Watts, 91, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Friday, September 5, 2025. Born on April 22, 1934 in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Boyce Reid Lee and Nancy Lucile Lanford Lee.

After graduating from Spartanburg High School, Reida married Raymond Allen Watts. They were happily married for 68 years, until his passing in 2019. They had many wonderful years together, traveling to beautiful places like Germany and Maine. Reida would often fondly remember their trips, but her favorite place to be was still the coast of South Carolina.

Reida was a talented seamstress and made many of her daughter’s childhood clothes. Her passion for sewing and fashion led her into the fashion industry, first as a buyer for Casual Corner. She went on to host beauty pageants, enjoyed interior decorating, and finally opened her own store, Reida’s Fashions and Designs. She enjoyed over 10 years in business serving her community with love.

Reida was also known for her cooking. She loved cooking for family and friends, often hosting parties to bring everyone together. Reida always wanted everyone to feel happy and welcome and will be remembered for her contagious smile, sense of fashion, and beauty.

She is survived by her daughter, Melody K. McPherson (Ray); grandchildren, Chad McPherson (Alexis) and Christina Barton (Andy); and great-grandchildren, Ian Watts McPherson and Emma Rae Barton.

The family wishes to say a sincere thank you to the staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home and Restoration at Westgate, as well as her many friends, for their devoted care and love for Reida.

Graveside services will be 10:00am on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
