Mary Frances Worley Richter

Mary Frances Worley Richter was born in Anderson, South Carolina on January 6, 1938 to Leonard Dallas (L.D.) Worley and Ruby Lois Sells, and had one brother, Leonard Champion (L.C.) Worley. Mary had two beautiful children of her own, Teresa Yon Bryant and Denise Yon Batdorf. In June 2020, Mary’s health started to rapidly decline, and on the morning of June 9, 2025, God called her into his arms, where she was no longer in pain

On April 4, 1998, she married Randolph N Richter, where they combined two families into one, which then blossomed into 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The two created memories with their family by hosting yearly camping trips across South Carolina where their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren rode their boat, flipped off tubes into the lake, knee boarded across the wake, and ate as many sandwiches and glasses of sweet tea as they desired. The cherry on top was the homemade ice cream at the end of an exhausting day at the lake. Mary had a knack for finding little trinkets and helpful knick-knacks, especially for the kitchen or closet. She snuck her grandchildren treats and Caramel frappes along with candy when their parents weren’t looking. Mary’s grandchildren have the fondest memories of playing at her house in the summer. Jumping into the pool, raking leaves, eating ice cream out of coffee mugs every night after dinner, and shopping. Every trip to visit was fun and created memories, which shaped their childhood, as well as her great-grandchildren’s childhood.

Mary was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Denise Yon Batdorf (63); step-son, Randolph N. Richter III (51); and brother, Leonard Champion (L.C) Worley (40). She leaves behind her husband of 27 years, who had continuously devoted himself to her care day-in and day-out, ensuring she had the best care during this phase of life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
