Michael Earl McArthur

Michael Earl McArthur of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 at the age of 78. He was born in Spartanburg on November 23, 1947 to the late Earl and Evelyn McArthur.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy after graduating from high school. Following his military service, Mike worked as a superintendent with Roebuck Buildings Company for more than 30 years before retiring. A skilled craftsman, Mike enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and loved spending time fishing whenever he could.

Mike was known for his warm smile and easygoing nature. He was kind-hearted, generous, and never met a stranger. Above all, he was a devoted and loving family man who treasured the time he spent with those he loved most.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lynne McArthur; daughters, Amy M. Martin (Shane) and Kelly M. Thomas; stepdaughters, Angie Grubbs and Tracy Walker (Jason); grandchildren, Ashlyn Martin, Aidan Martin, and Lauren Thomas; and eight step-grandchildren. Mike also leaves behind his sister, Cynthia M. West (Michael); two nephews and many beloved cousins; and his close friends, Rusty Shaver, Marvin Smith, and Monty King.

The family will hold a private service to honor Mike’s life.
