It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Oun Ham, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world on May 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, and leaves behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and unwavering love.
Born in Cambodia, Oun overcame immense hardship and poverty. Through strength and determination, she built a new life in South Carolina alongside her devoted husband, Romeny. Together, they created a home filled with love, peace, and purpose.
Oun had a deep love for nature—the quiet beauty of the mountains and the calming rhythm of the ocean brought her peace and joy. She found serenity in her garden, where she nurtured life with the same care she gave to everyone who stepped through her door.
A gifted cook and talented seamstress, Oun could make a feast from anything and fix almost everything. Her creativity and skill were matched only by her incredible work ethic, something she took great pride in and passed on to her children as one of life’s most important values.
Family was at the center of her world. She adored her husband, her children, and her grandchildren beyond measure. She lived a life of service, always putting others before herself, and she had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, cared for, and encouraged. Her greatest hope was for everyone she loved to succeed and live happy, meaningful lives.
She is survived by her husband, Romeny Yath, her sons; Sara Yath (Somary Chhay), and David Yath, her daughters; Sarin Yath(Khoeuth Um) and Tary Lewis (Darren Lewis), her grandchildren; Sarica Um, Serianna Um, Shannon Um, Sokaili Yath, Skyler Um, Sakairan Yath, Sakaden Yath, Savannah Um, and Landon Lewis. She is also survived by a sister, Sem York (Sophan Srey).
Oun will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved, the values she instilled, and the life she so beautifully built.
