Phillip Ree Kennedy

Phillip Ree Kennedy, known lovingly to all as Phil, passed away on July 28th, 2026 at his home in Woodruff, South Carolina. Born on July 21, 1953, in Woodruff to the late Buddy Kennedy and the late Vivian Kennedy.

He dedicated more than thirty years of faithful service to Trelleborg, formerly known as Reeves Brothers, before retiring. For many years, Phil served as an ASA umpire, a role he embraced with fairness and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Kennedy, and later found love and companionship again with Robin Kennedy, who survives him. Phil is survived by his wife, Robin Kennedy of Woodruff; his daughter, Christy Godfrey and her husband Stacy Godfrey; and his son Scott Kennedy. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their families; Tyler Kennedy and wife Megan Kennedy, Makayla Kennedy and fiancé Corey Steen, Kiera Godfrey and her fiancé Joey Lowe, Nathan Godfrey and fiancé Ella Gossett, Justin Kennedy, Raegan Abernathy, Skylar Leandry and husband Carlos and Timothy Manly The great grandchildren TJ Kennedy, Weston Kennedy, Makinsley Boozer, Riyan Steen, Harper Lowe, Cayden Steen , all of whom held special and cherished places in his heart. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Phil was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Kennedy.

He was a longstanding member and deacon of Beaver Hills Baptist Church and west end Baptist where he served with humility and deep conviction.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 31st 2026 from 6-8pm, at the JM Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Rd. Roebuck, SC 29376. The funeral service celebrating Phil's life will be held at Legacy Church on Saturday, August 1st 2026 at 10:00am, 3700 S Church St Ext, Roebuck, SC 29376. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the many thoughts and prayers that have been offered during this difficult time.

Phil lived his life by the words that sustained him through every season, every joy, and every trial. In the words of Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul.
