Phillip Lee "Tadpole" Vickery

A gentle giant walked through heaven’s gates to meet his God, whom he loved and served. Phillip Lee Vickery, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

Phillip was born on July 12, 1960 to the proud parents, Larrion Luther and Miriam Roper Vickery.

Left to treasure his antics are his mother, Miriam Vickery; brother, Richard Vickery; sisters, Dalene Vickery Parker (Pat) and Rebecca Vickery Steadman; nephew, Daniel Parker; niece, Susanne Parker; friends and many relatives.

Throughout the state, Phillip was known for athleticism. More importantly, he was known for his stellar sportsmanship. He loved football as much as loved life. Phillip was of the Baptist faith.

Phillip ran the good race, and he won!

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 26th, 2:00PM at First Baptist Church Spartanburg in the Davis Chapel.

An athletic scholarship will be established through Spartanburg High School in honor of Phillip. It would be his wish to sew into the future of a young athlete.
