Phyllis Harrelson Sparks

Phyllis Harrelson Sparks, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026 after a brief illness. Born in Spartanburg, SC on June 15, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Carlisle Harrelson and Sara Burnett.

Phyllis graduated from Spartanburg High School and Cecil Business College. She had a big heart and loved to shop, but she loved the Lord the most.

She is survived by her son, Damon Ammons (Jennifer) of Spartanburg; grandsons, Coleman Harrelson Ammons and William Tinsley Ammons of Spartanburg; sister, Betty Ann Yaughn of Macon, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was predeceased by her siblings, Larry “Bud”, Wade, Wayne, Freda, Bonnie, and Johnny Harrelson; and beloved husband, James Clayton Sparks of Spindale, NC.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

Burial will be private.
