Richard G. Debus

Richard G. Debus of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026 at the age of 74. He was born in Charlotte, NC on March 13, 1952 to the late Virginia and Buster Debus.

After his family moved to Spartanburg when he was five, Richard quickly made it home. He spent his childhood on Oak Leaf Drive, where he formed life-long bonds with neighborhood friends.

Richard was an artistic soul, best known for his work in fused glass. Through his work, he showed his creativity and love for making beautiful things. Those who knew Richard will remember him as likeable and genuine, someone who left a lasting impression simply by being exactly who he was. His memory will be held close by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Cole, daughter, Leigh Sweeney, and five dearly loved grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Cindy Debus, one son, and two daughters.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
