Ronald David Cato, 70, a long time past resident of Silver Spring, Maryland and Cleveland, TN, died October 6, 2025, in Spartanburg, South Carolina after an extended illness. Born November 9, 1954 in Durham, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Juanita Johnson Cato and the Reverend Harold Eugene Cato. He was predeceased by his husband, Richard L. Dargan of Spartanburg, SC, sister, Renee C. Preston of Cleveland, TN, and sister, Gail C. Jacobs (Daniel) of Jacksonville, FL.

He was a graduate of Durham High School in Durham, NC. He received his Bachelor's degree from Lee University in Cleveland, TN (1977). For most of his life, he was employed as a Director of Music and Organist for various churches including the Church of the Ascension (Sligo Parish) in Silver Spring, MD, Buford Street United Methodist Church in Gaffney, SC, Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta, GA, and Westmore Church of God in Cleveland, TN.

He is survived by his nephew, Jeffrey Miller (Crystal) of Eau Claire, WI, his niece, Melody Nicole (Nikki) Preston of Cleveland, Tennessee, and numerous cousins. Condolences may be expressed to www.jmdunbar.com.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Ascension in Silver Spring, MD, early in 2026.
