Russell Kissam Lord

May 13, 1927 — May 5, 2026

Russell K. Lord, age 98, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026 in Spartanburg, SC, where he had made his home since 2023. Russ was born in East Orange, NJ.

During WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served aboard the U.S.S. Oregon City. After being honorably discharged, he completed his senior year at Bordentown Military School and then attended Ursinus College where he met Kathy, the love of his life, while they were both singers in a college musical production. After graduation, Russ and Kathy married and settled in Eagleville, PA where they raised their two daughters. Russ held positions in Quality Control in various electronics and aerospace companies and later owned and operated Village Service Company in Audubon, PA.

After retirement, Russ fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to Florida. He and Kathy drove across the country for their retirement trip and resided in Marco Island, Florida, where they enjoyed many happy years. Russ enjoyed boating, singing with the Paradise Coastmen Barbershop Chorus, watching NASCAR races and football games, and serving in his church, Wesley United Methodist Church of Marco Island. Among other things, Russ will be remembered for his baritone voice, his ability to harmonize, and his unique sense of humor and love of puns. He passed on his love of music and singing to his daughters. He was a longtime member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and American Legion Post 901.

Russ is survived by his daughters, Deborah and Betsi (Ted); his grandchildren, Trish, Scott (Randi), and Erin (Evan); his five great grandchildren, a niece, and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathy, and his parents, Anne and Russell.

A celebration of life will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, Marco Island, FL, at a date to be announced.
