Sandra (Sandie) Bright, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 15, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bright, with whom she built a life centered on family, care, and strength. After his passing, she carried forward with resilience and grace, remaining the steady, guiding presence her family relied upon.
Sandie is survived by her beloved children, Michael Stone (Brian Kelly), Rebecca Edwards (James Edwards), Tracie Johnson (Scott Johnson), and her chosen daughter, Diane Turner, whom she loved as her own, as well as her younger brother, William Hughes. She was a proud grandmother to Jordin Johnson (Destiny Carrington), Devon Wicker (Nolan Wicker), Rachel Johnson, Emily Stone, Caleb Bonhom, Carson Bright, Gracyn Bright; Brielle Bright; Paris Bright, Mia Bennett, and a loving great-grandmother to Elohim Bills and Amina Lael Bills, all of whom filled her life with immense joy.
Her presence in the family went far beyond any title. As the anchor of her loved ones, she was the first person they turned to for wisdom, perspective, and comfort. She listened with care, spoke with honesty, and gave of herself freely. She carried a rare blend of warmth, humor, and quiet strength that left a lasting mark on their hearts; a mark that will endure forever.
Sandie’s passions extended beyond her family. She had a deep love for the arts, particularly theater, and she found delight in every performance. Whether attending shows or stepping onto the stage herself at the Tryon Little Theater in North Carolina. She approached every story with curiosity and heart, infusing every role and audience experience with her energy, joy, and excitement. Her love for creativity and expression was contagious, inspiring those around her to see the world with the same sense of wonder she carried throughout her life.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
In memory of Sandie Bright, the family respectfully asks, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Tryon Little Theater online at https://tltinfo.org/how-to-help/, or to P.O. Box 654, Tryon, NC 28782.
