Sharon Ann Rountree

Sharon Ann Akins Rountree, passed away on March 21, 2026. She was born on October 06, 1954, in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Sharon dedicated her life to caring for others. She found her calling in nursing and hospice work where her compassion, gentleness, and unwavering presence brought comfort to countless families during their most difficult moments. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and cared for. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. They were her heart, her purpose, and her proudest accomplishment. She poured her love into them endlessly, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. To her family, she was everything—their strength, their safe place, and their constant source of love. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, and she will be deeply missed every day. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband Steve Rountree; one son, Nick Rountree (Hannah); three daughters, Heather Culbreth (Mike), Angie Tennyson (Chris), and Carmyn Price (Bo); brother, David Akins(Joanne); one sister, Lynne Sizemore (Rick); ten grandchildren, Hunter, Baleigh (Dustin), Madelyn (Trey), Ashton, Layne (Jessica), Gavin, Karis, Penelopi, Willa, and Brock; and four great-grandchildren, Ella, Everleigh, Emersyn, and Marigold. She was predeceased by parents James and Annie Akins and brother Michael Akins.

Memorial Services will be Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at J.M Dunbar Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be prior to service starting at 12:00 PM.
