Sidney Kenneth Tuck Sr., 80, beloved husband of Patricia Anne Bedenbaugh Tuck, passed away on May 29, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1944, in Marietta, GA, to the late George Pierce Tuck and Geneva Lawter Tuck.
Sidney was a proud graduate of Spartanburg High School and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He dedicated 33 years of service to Mayfair Mills and served his country faithfully for 35 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of Command Sergeant Major from the 81st Regional Support Command. In addition to his professional and military accomplishments, Sidney spent 25 years officiating for the South Carolina High School League, demonstrating his passion for youth sports and community engagement.
A man of great faith, Sidney endeavored to follow Christ daily in both his prayer life and humble family life. Sidney was a member of the Church at the Mill and prior to a long-term decline in health, was active in the Tom Sinclair Sunday School class.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Sidney is survived by his brother, George Pierce “Perry” Tuck, Jr. (Barbie), son, Ken Tuck (Alma) of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Erin Peake (Charone), Clayton Tuck, and Amanda Horton (Matt); and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Bonnie Tuck Blackwell, his son, Eric William Tuck and Doris McMakin who was like a sister.
Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Cedar Spring Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Dr. M. Todd Lowe. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Cedar Spring Baptist Church, 140 Cedar Springs Place, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or The Gideons International, P.O. Box 3103, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
