Simon Aswin Patel

Simon Aswin Patel, 28 of Washington, DC, beloved and cherished son of Aswin and Belinda Patel passed away after years of struggling and fighting depression. Simon lost his battle on April 29, 2026 in his home in Washington, DC.

Simon was known for his extraordinary kindness and his musical talents. All who knew him loved him and he will be deeply missed. Simon will be remembered for his beautiful violin performances and for his kind nature. He loved his rescue dog Odin. He was an avid Doctor Who fan and a science enthusiast.

Simon was a graduate of Spartanburg High School in 2016, and graduated with a BS in Computer Science in 2020 from The George Washington University with high honors. He was a member of the GWU orchestra. His music was such an integral part of his life. He began violin at age 4 at Converse university pre-college. He traveled and performed abroad both in Italy with his high school orchestra, and in Ireland during his semester in Dublin.

Simon worked as a software developer in the DC metro area.

A memorial for close friends and family will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
