Terry Peter Miller

Terry Peter Miller, 87, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Born on September 5, 1937, in Everette, Washington, Terry was the son of the late Oscar Woodrow Miller and Nathalia Bertha Smith Miller. He graduated from Eugene High School in Eugene, Oregon, in 1955, and he received a BS degree from the University of Oregon in 1959.

Terry began his career working at Boeing as an accountant. He moved to work for Safeco Insurance Company and would eventually go to work for Boeing Computer Services in Seattle, Washington. The computer consulting is what precipitated the move to Columbia, South Carolina, where he worked at Colonial Life Insurance Company in Data Processing and Systems Architecture. He ended his career as a builder in Columbia, South Carolina, where he started Executive Home Builder, a custom home building business.

Terry was happiest when he was in his garage woodworking, playing golf, or skiing on the slopes of Mount Rainier at Crystal Mountain. He was very proud of his 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren who called him “Papa Terry.”

Terry was preceded in death by his wife Louella Miller of Rock Hill, SC. He is survived by his daughters Cathy Miller Bagwell (Billy) of Spartanburg, SC and Kristi Miller Black (David) of Beaufort, SC and their mother Linda Murphey of Columbia, SC, his grandchildren William Sawyer Bagwell (Mary Scott) of Spartanburg, SC, Ellis Bagwell Collins (Bayne) of Greenville, SC, David Shuler Black, Jr, of Austin, TX and Katherine Miller “Mills” Black of Charleston, SC, and his great grandchildren Rosie Bagwell, William Bagwell, William Collins, and MaryEllis Collins. He is also survived by his brothers, Jack E. Miller (Carol) of Kuna, Idaho, and Bruce A. Miller (Kacey) of Portland, Oregon.

Terry will be remembered as a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

The immediate family will have a private service to honor Terry.
