Thomas “Tommy” Southard

d. March 29, 2023

Inman, SC. “Tommy” Thomas James Southard, 65, died suddenly at his home on March 29th, 2023.

Tommy was the son of Nona Carter Brooks of Greensboro, NC and the late William James Southard of Martinsville, VA. In addition to his wife and 3 daughters, he is survived by his brother, Sammy (Lynn) of Greensboro, nieces Stephanie Southard, Monique Elliott-Chincholikar, Tori Harris, Christan Dixon Pineda, nephews Brian Page, Jeffery Blackwell (Katie), Tyler Southard and paternal aunt, Jerelene Alverson.

He was born in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Dudley High school before moving to Spartanburg to manage Carolina Steel Rule Die. While working at CSRD, Tommy branched out into a business owner. He first bought Preston’s Pub and Grill in Tryon, NC. He would own Preston’s for 15 years, until starting a family. About the same time, he also started Ultra Tech Diecutters and would run that until a couple of years ago when he discovered a passion for handyman business. He always liked being his own boss and figuring out how to fix things.

Tommy met and married Lisa Brockmeier Southard and would have been married 36 years in May. Together they had 3 beautiful daughters. Kira Elise Southard, 25, Leah Grace Southard, 19, and Jena Hayes Southard, 17, of the home. Tommy was a proud grandfather to Malakai, Oliver and Amelia.

Tommy was a proud family man that worked hard and loved his family dearly. He was funny and quick to crack a joke but had a heart of gold. He often bragged about being a father to 3 beautiful and smart girls. They brought him more joy than they will ever know. Tommy and his family recently moved to Inman to be closer to his daughter and in-laws. He was looking forward to creating a country paradise and watching his grandchildren grow. He was incredibly proud of his daughters bonding together and being there for each other.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 8th at noon at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dunbar Funeral Home, P O Box 6424, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
