Dr. Viola "Oley" Roberts Lewis

Dr. Viola “Oley” Roberts Lewis of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the age of 74. She was born on January 6, 1952 to the late Frances Renner and James Edward Roberts, Sr. and was married to Rev. Randall M. Lewis for nearly 56 years.

Oley earned her master’s in education from Converse College and her PhD in Education from Northcentral University and went on to be a beloved public schoolteacher for 35 years.

A faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Oley served her family and her community well. She contributed greatly to her church family as a pastor’s wife, pianist, soloist, and children’s church volunteer. Pastor Randy and Oley have been in pastoral ministry for over 45 years, the last 25 of which have been with Solid Rock Church, a very loving harmonious, and ministry minded church. Oley was a beautiful lady, inside and out. Her lively spirit, sweet smile, and humorous personality will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, Brandon Lewis (Amy) and Blake Lewis (Shelby); grandchildren, Hannah, Micah, Caden, Grayson, Josiah, Asher, Ellis, and Harris; siblings, Edna Foy (Dick), Eddie Roberts (Ann), and Tonja Whalen (Wesley); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026 in Solid Rock Church. Memorial services will follow at 3:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Arnie Blackwell.
