Virginia “Ginny” Burgess, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 30, 1947, in The Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Charles and Edna Adele Walker. She worked in several capacities over her career including 1st National Bank, Top Services, Denny’s and most recently Heritage Healthcare primarily as an Admin Assistant. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Gigi” and great-grandmother and sister. She was of the Episcopalian faith. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years Richard “Dick” Burgess. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Burgess of Spartanburg, SC; son, Richard Burgess Jr. and wife Susan of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Campbell and fiancé Heather Tessner, Sara Layton and husband Noah, and Parker Burgess and fiancé Elizabeth Phillips, Sarah Mullins, William Mullins and fiancé Danielle Sweeney all of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Arielle Epley, Bridgette Campbell and Amelia Layton, all of Spartanburg, SC; a brother, Ted Walker of San Diego, CA, and sister Dorothy Walker and husband Sam Aloni of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Scott Burgess. 

Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Saturday, October 4, 2025, at The J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home. Casual funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Chad Norris.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Center for Children, PO Box 1731, Spartanburg, SC 29304 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home.
