William Sherrod LeaMond, 37, of Simpsonville, SC passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2026. He was born in Charleston, SC on June 5, 1989 to William and Roxanne (nee Dangerfield) LeaMond. He is survived by his parents and the apple of his eye, his daughter Ellie; Ellie’s mother, Katie; his sister, Laura Nielson (Kevin), and their children Libby, Mary Bell, and John; along with many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bill grew up on James Island making his way at an early age in the restaurant industry. He made many lifelong friends and mentors whom he continued to hold close to his heart. In 2023, Bill left Charleston with his bride, Katie, and baby Ellie to open a restaurant (Fox / Hound) in Greenville, SC where he received recognition in local media, Homes & Garden publications, and The Post & Courier.
To obtain a better work life balance, Bill left the restaurant industry and became a Construction Manager for a residential home builder. Bill was continually trying to improve his skills and was currently studying for his Home Builders License. He set high standards and goals for himself, always planning ahead and willing to lend a hand. Bill was a strong advocate for sober living and purchased a sober living house to help those in the early stages of recovery.
One of Bill’s greatest passions was to surf. Many trips were made from the Greenville area to Folly Beach when the surf was up. Bill found peace and clarity at the beach. How lucky he was to share that experience with his Dad. One of his goals was to teach his daughter Ellie how to surf.
A chance meeting with a couple of California guys who became lifelong friends jump started his travel adventures. Solo backpacking trips to Southeast Asia, Central America, Mexico and numerous cross-country trips fed his wanderlust. Bill led a full colorful life with many plans/goals yet to be completed. His energy and kindness were infectious.
Bill was sweet, kind, sensitive, fun, adventurous, goal driven, dedicated and organized. He had a beautiful heart and soul; he was loved and will be greatly missed.
He fought the good fight!!!
A drop-in gathering of Bill’s friends and family will take place on the sands of Folly Beach, SC (The Wash-out) on Saturday, October, 3, 2026 between 10:00 A.M. and noon.
