William Keith Stokes

William Keith Stokes, 75, of Spartanburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Betty Jo Outz Stokes.

Born on November 23, 1950, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Keith was the son of the late Nelson Lawton Stokes, Sr. and Mildred Turner Stokes.

A proud veteran, Keith honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Blue Ridge High School in Greer, Class of 1969, and later earned his degree from the University of South Carolina. Following his military service, he continued his dedication to public service as a parole officer and later as a United States Constable. Keith was a faithful member of Roebuck Baptist Church, where he enjoyed worshipping alongside his church family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Betty Jo Outz Stokes, Keith is survived by his son, Dr. Preston E. Bishop (Pamela); his brother, Nelson L. Stokes, Jr. (Freida); his sisters, Lynn Lingo (Doug) and Patty Cason (Barry); his grandchildren, Bryson Bishop (Peyton), Heather Porter, Kaelyn Porter, and great grandchildren, Macon Porter, Hunley Porter, and Axton Porter-Hart; and a special friend, Marie Porter.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Roebuck Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. A private burial, with military honors, will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
