Dewey Allen Hazel

Spartanburg, SC- Dewey “Allen” Hazel, 82, husband of Linda Riser Hazel, died Thursday, August 12, 2021 at his home. Born December 27, 1938 in Saluda County, SC, Allen was a son of the late Strother B. and Emalyn Sample Hazel. He honorably served his country in the US Navy on the USS Intrepid from 1957 until 1959. After his discharge, he married Teresa Page, his former wife of 51 years. Teresa passed away in 2010. Allen met Linda Riser in 2012 and they married October 27, 2014. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg, attending many mission trips and serving as Deacon. Allen was a jack of all trades and employed with Lockwood Greene as a draftsman before his retirement. In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his children, Ricky Allen Hazel (Carol) of Morganton, NC, Lisa Carol Hazel Roach (Ken) of Roebuck, SC, and Teresa “Tracy” Diane Hazel Cooper (David) of Holt, MO; three stepchildren, Myrna Loy Biggs (Les) of Gray Court, SC, John Curtis Loy (Pam) of Ponca City, OK, and Deborah Loy Webb Baker (Dan) of Pelzer, SC; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; seven step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; a special cousin, Roy Sample (Elizabeth); niece, Jeana Hazel; and many cousins. In addition to his former wife, Teresa, Allen was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Merrell Hazel; and sister in-law, Jean Hazel. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to MSA Hospice and the special RNs, Diane, Coco, and Jan, and CNAs, Debra and India. The family will receive friends Monday, August 16th, 9:30-10:15AM at First Baptist Church Spartanburg. Funeral services will follow at 10:30AM, officiated by Reverend Sal Barone. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of Lisa and Ken in Roebuck, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals, P O Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to the charity of one’s choice.
